BookWoman presents a monthly "Getting to Know the Goddess" series, curated by Patricia Austin.

Chanting is truly a wonderful meditation.  When we chant we take ourselves around the Spiral of Life again and again, reminding our deepest parts of the beauty and power we have.   The words we sing over and over are implanted in our psyches, at the mythic level.  They add to the stories we carry about our lives.  "In the heart of my womb lies my power", "Fierce woman, wild and proud"  and "I'm holding the wisdom that is me" are some of the chants.  Come hear Marie speak more about this and come chant with us!

Marie Summerwood is a composer of women's sacred chants.  She has two CDs of her own music - "She Walks With Snakes" and "Step Into The River".  She has also co-produced a CD of chants written by women who attended a workshop on chant writing that she led at the Pine Crone Retreat Center in the beautiful and magical Lost Pines of Bastrop.
