Getting to Know The Goddess: Celebrating Hanukkah and the Virgin of Guadalupe

Celebrating Hanukkah and the Virgin of Guadalupe
with Marion Magarick and Suzanne McAnna

Hosted by Linda Webster

Join us in celebrating the feast day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, as well as the beginning of Hanukkah, a Jewish celebration of lights.  (The actual date for both is December 12, and we are gathering the night before on December 11.)  We will celebrate Hanukkah from a feminist, secular Jewish perspective as a winter holiday of light returning.  We will also call on Our Lady of Guadalupe/Aztec Earth Mother Tonantzin for love, healing and protection for ourselves and for our world.  We will have refreshments.

Marion Magarick is a longtime member and co-facilitator of the First Unitarian Universalist Women’s Spirituality Group and a participant in activities at the Jewish Community Center.

Suzanne McAnna is a co-founder of Tejas Web (a central Texas-based web of witches, pagans and people of spirit).  Suzanne practices and teaches witchcraft in the Reclaiming tradition and is a longtime student and teacher of Tarot.  Suzanne and Linda have created and facilitated Tarot rituals and labyrinth walks focused on Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Linda Webster is the convener of the “Getting to Know the Goddess” series at BookWoman and a longtime member and co-facilitator of the First Unitarian Universalist Women’s Spirituality Group.
