Getting To Know The Goddess Series: Summer Reading & Discussions: August 16

City of Refuge ( Fifth Sacred Thing #3 ) by Starhawk
Discussion facilitated by Linda Webster

City of Refuge continues the story begun in Starhawk’s previous novel The Fifth Sacred Thing (1994). Her other novel Walking to Mercury (1998) is a prequel to The Fifth Sacred Thing. But you don’t need to have read either of these novels to follow the plot of City of Refuge.
We'll discuss the second half of the book, startinging with Chapter 34. We’ll begin by inviting those to speak who have something they’d like to share; for example, an event or theme that resonated or didn’t resonate; a character that you identified with or didn’t identify with; the different approaches to nonviolence and non-cooperation. Starhawk asks: How can we create positive changes and hope for the future if we can’t envision it? How do we build a new world, when people are so broken by the old? You don't need to have attended the previous book discussion to attend.
