Are you frustrated by the increasing commercialization of Black Friday? Would you like to support small and local businesses this holiday season, and get book recommendations from people who know the subject best?
Well, you’re in luck! On November 28, BookWoman is again proud to participate in Small Business Saturday in conjunction with Indies First (http://www.indiebound.org/indiesfirst), a national celebration of the important role independent bookstores play in our lives and communities.
In celebration of this event, BookWoman is delighted to host several local authors including Debra Winegarten author of two award winning books: Oveta Culp Hobby and There's Jews in Texas?, Catherine Musemeche, MD author of Small: Life and Death on the Front Lines of Pediatric Surgery, winner of the 2015 Writer's League of Texas Nonfiction Discovery Award, Susan Morrison author of Grendel's Mother, and Home Front Girl: A Diary of Love, Literature, and Growing Up in Wartime America which won Best Children's Book of the Year 2013 by Bank Street College of Education, Paige Schilt author of Queer Rock Love, Mary Helen Specht author of Migratory Animals: A Novel, Dwaines Lawless author of Cajun Moon, Mary S. Black author of Peyote Fire: Shaman of the Canyons, Pamela Ferguson, author of Sunshine Picklelime: A Story of Life, Laughter & Lemonade, Kate Payne who will demonstrate making a "shrub" beverage from her book The Hip Girls Guide to the Kitchen, Brenda Blair author of Because of the Camels, Alamo Bay Press publisher Pam Booten, + more!
Come to the store any time between noon and 5pm to hear these authors discuss their works, have books signed, receive book recommendations, and do some holiday shopping. Light holiday-themed refreshments will be provided.
