Palestine Speaks: Book Reading and Talk with Cate Malek

IfNotNow Austin and the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC-AustinChapter) present a reading and talk by journalist Cate Malek, co-editor of the oral history Palestine Speaks: Narratives of Life Under Occupation (Voice of Witness, 2014). Through stories culled from everyday life, this collection approaches the longstanding political and moral crisis of the Israeli occupation of Palestine from a human scale. These lived experiences, told by a diverse range of Palestinians, provide a personal lens for viewing and grounding this ongoing struggle.

Cate Malek is a journalist based in Austin, where she is presently pursuing her MA in journalism and Middle Eastern studies. She has reported, taught, and done NGO work in Bethlehem, and received multiple Colorado Press Association awards before moving to Austin for graduate school.
