Book Talk: Women Winemakers with Lucia and John Gilbert
Please join us in welcoming Lucia and John Gilbert authors of Women Winemakers: Personal Odysseys. The Pandemic has caused us to move this to a virtual event on Zoom, BUT some exciting new components have been added...
Lucia and Jack Gilbert are hosting this ZOOM book event to celebrate publication of their new book, Women Winemakers: Personal Odysseys, AND to introduce you to the “rock star” winemaker Carol Shelton. Their daughter Melissa will host the event and introduce Carol (https://www.carolshelton.com/). Carol will share her pathway to winemaking and then lead us in a tasting of four of her award-winning wines. A Q&A session with Carol and the authors will conclude the event.
***The book is available from BookWoman, 5501 N Lamar Blvd, tel. no. 512 472 2785. For details regarding the event (e.g., how to get the wines or SIGNED COPIES of the book), go tohttps://tinyurl.com/oct-18-event-details.***

The authors engaged in one-on-one conversations with dozens of trailblazing women winemakers from throughout California and important wine regions of France, Italy, New Zealand, Portugal, and Spain. Their insightful book presents the Personal Odysseys of these trailblazers through the lens of four career pathways and the cultural histories of each wine region. Despite occurring in different cultures and times, the journeys of these women demonstrate a commonality of purpose and direction. Their stories will inspire current and future winemakers and educate wine enthusiasts about what enables the careers of women who make wine.
