Getting To Know The Goddess Series: Margot Adler Remembered
Margot Adler Remembered
A Program in BookWoman's monthly "Getting to Know the Goddess" Series
Facilitated by Linda Webster
Margot Adler, an NPR news correspondent and Wiccan priestess, died on July 28, 2014, at the age of 68. In 1979 Adler wrote Drawing Down the Moon: Witches, Druids, Goddess-Worshippers, and Other Pagans in America Today, which became one of the most cited studies of contemporary paganism and established her position as a leading voice in the American pagan community. This book has been revised twice. She also wrote Heretic's Heart: A Journey Through Spirit and Revolution, a 1960's memoir. In 2014, she published Vampires Are Us: Understanding Our Love Affair with the Immortal Dark Side.
In honor of Margot Adler, we will read passages from her three books, watch video clips from some of her interviews, and share our memories of her and our responses to her writings. Please feel free to bring passages from her books to read aloud and stories of Margot to share. Since Margot loved singing Goddess chants, we will do some singing in her honor.
