To kick off National Poetry Month, Gregg Shapiro reads from his new book More Poems About Buildings and Food (Souvenir Spoon Books, 2019)
at BookWoman in Austin.
Gregg Shapiro’s chapbooks, More Poems About Buildings and Food (Souvenir Spoon Books) and Sunshine State (NightBallet Press), will be published in early and mid-2019, respectively. He is the author of Fifty Degrees (Seven Kitchens, 2016), selected by Ching-In Chen as co-winner of the Robin Becker Chapbook Prize. Other books by Shapiro include the short story collections How to Whistle (Lethe Press, 2016) and Lincoln Avenue (Squares and Rebels Press, 2014), the chapbook GREGG SHAPIRO: 77 (Souvenir Spoon Books, 2012), and the poetry collectionProtection (Gival Press, 2008). He also has work forthcoming in Gargoyle, Acta Victoriana, Mojave River Review, The Duck Lake Journal and the anthology Lovejets: Queer Male Poets on 200 Years of Walt Whitman (Handtype Press). His poetry was recently featured in South Florida Poetry Journal, the Gay and Lesbian Review, Chelsea Station Magazine, Minnie’s Diary and the Anhinga Press anthology Reading Queer. An entertainment journalist, whose interviews and reviews run in a variety of regional LGBT and mainstream publications and websites, Shapiro lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with his husband Rick and their dog Coco.
