INF Press Launch Readings Featuring: Jenna Opperman & Andrea Eames
INF Press is a new, high-quality local poetry press run by two Austin poets: Andrea Eames and Jenna Martin Opperman. They are excited to celebrate its launch with the release of their latest collections: New Monsters, by Andrea Eames, and Shattering Is Gradual, by Jenna Martin Opperman.
New Monsters is a lyrical exploration of what it means to be a woman transitioning from one stage of life to another, with poems exploring sexuality, identity, femininity, and the pain and joy of unfolding to a larger and more authentic version of yourself.
‘New Monsters is not for the timid. A study in the feminine as much as the poet, Eames’ new collection is fearless, revealing women in our full, unfettered beauty. Within these pages, we are ravenous and angry, raw and polished, simultaneously ourselves and our search for something larger – much like the collection itself.’
Shattering Is Gradual marks the life of a storyteller obsessed with the emotional truths of herself and others. Part rollercoaster, part prayer, it never fails to facilitate the reader's arrival somewhere new.
‘This highly-polished, cerebral collection spans years of writing, and is an achievement both elegant and emotional. Love, heartbreak and self-realization are major themes, described with wry, often funny, always balanced poignancy.’
