The Little Local Texas Cookbook with Hilah Johnson

The Little Local Texas Cookbook is a commemoration of Texas cuisine and the cultures which have inspired it. The book includes more than 30 Texas recipes ranging from the familiar smoked brisket, chili, enchiladas, and breakfast tacos to the lesser-known kolaches, pickled peaches, and Mexican martinis, with tips and tales woven throughout. With hand-painted, color illustrations and playful writing, this book is as charming as it is practical.

Hilah Johnson is an award-winning writer and video producer and a lifelong cook. Her other book titles include The Breakfast Taco Book and Learn to Cook: A Down and Dirty Guide to Cooking (For People Who Never Learned How). In 2010, she and her husband began the Hilah Cooking YouTube channel and website, producing over 500 instructional cooking videos since then. An eighth-generation Austinite, she now lives with her family in Los Angeles, working as a screenwriter.
