Join us for an afternoon of celebrating, and meditating on, all things MOTHER. Hosted by Liz Belile, featuring readings from Liz, Jennifer Hill Robenalt, Tiff Holland, Sonya Feher, Jan Bozarth, M. Yvonne Taylor, Karen Ranus, and Nettie Reynolds. Refreshments and other unexpected delights await all who attend.
Liz Belile writes award-winning screenplays, podcasts, television spec scripts, songs, poems, and news features. She is widely published throughout indie media, is the author of “Polishing the Bayonet,” published by Incommunicado Books, and “Your Only Other Option Is Surgery,” a solo recording released by New Alliance Records. She founded, co-produced, and curated the “Gynomite: Fearless Feminist Porn” reading series, audio recording and book anthology, live national performance tour, and erotica writing workshops for women. Forever interested in where the fine and healing arts meet, she is a body worker and a yoga instructor, offering yoga for fertility as a “fertility doula,” having helped over 100 women get knocked up. She is a passionate advocate for people with disabilities. She is the mother of an amazing boy, whom she bore at the advanced maternal age of 43.
Jennifer Hill Robenalt is a writer, actor, and communications consultant. She has shared her personal stories at Testify, The Living Room, Story Department, and Carry On: A Storyteller Showcase. Jennifer has written for Austin Woman Magazine, Austin Monthly, and has ghostwritten countless blog posts for many people she must keep secret. She just completed a picture book for kids celebrating neurodiversity... and jellyfish. She is finishing her debut novel which involves ghosts and celebrities. Jennifer earned a BFA in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College in Boston, MA.
Jan Bozarth is the author of the global entertainment “trans-media” brand for preteen girls, The Fairy Godmother Academy. The six book series is published by Random House-Yearling Books. She has just completed the follow-on GenZ book series, Coded4Greatness. Jan is a nationally recognized content creator and branding expert for positive content for children and family programs with a special emphasis on programs for girls. Jan has worked as a Disney Imagineer designing a new technology brand, and is a Visiting Professional at Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) for 2018 and 2019.
Sonya Fehér is a writer, mama, and professional organizer living in Austin, Texas. Fehér earned her MFA in creative writing / poetry from Texas State University. She has been published in elimae, Literary Mama, cc&d and other journals and anthologized in Contemporary American Women: Our Defining Passages, Poetry Slam: The Competitive Art of Performance Poetry and the about to be released Crush Anthology.
Nettie Reynolds is a grief chaplain, a playwright and storyteller. She’s also a mom of two and an avid napper.
Karen Ranus is the Executive Director of NAMI Austin— a non-profit dedicated to providing resources and programming for individuals and families struggling with mental health issues. Karen is a regular editorial contributor and speaker on mental health topics, including youth and faith initiatives. Karen has shared her family’s mental health journey as a storyteller for Testify. She is the mother of three amazing young women.
Tiff Holland is the author of the novella-in-flash "Betty Superman". Her poetry and prose appear regularly in journals and anthologies.
M. Yvonne Taylor, mother of Alex and daughter of Mary, is a doctoral student in higher educational leadership and policy and managing editor of Texas Education online, a magazine at The University of Texas at Austin's College of Education. She also writes frequently for Gray Matters at the Houston Chronicle.
