Queer(ing) Religion / Religion for Queers: Poetry with John Fry, jo reyes-boitel, and D. Gilson

Join us as local poets John Fry, jo reyes-boitel, and D. Gilson read from their work and explore the intersection of religion with queerness!

Originally from South Texas, John Fry is the author of With the Dogstar as My Witness (Orison Books, 2018). His poems appear in Poetry InternationalWest BranchBlackbird, and Waxwing, among others. A medievalist and doctoral candidate at UT-Austin, he lives in the Hill Country and will soon relocate to San Antonio.   

jo reyes-boitel is a poet, essayist, and playwright; a novice hand drummer and music researcher; and, a Texas transplant by way of Minnesota | Florida | Mexico | Cuba. Jo's first book, Michael & Josephine (a novel in verse), was released in March.

D. Gilson’s next essay collection, Incarnate: Notes from an Evangelical Boyhood, is forthcoming from the University of Georgia Press. He is the author of Jesus Freak, with Will Stockton (Bloomsbury, 2018) and an Assistant Professor of English at Texas Tech University.
