Reading & Book Talk: The Truth About Sunday Minor
Austin author H.R. Young-Lira & Susan Post of Bookwoman partner for an evening of dialogue on a myriad of topics surrounding the life and times of the survivor on whom the fictionalized memoir The Truth About Sunday Minor is based. We are excited to announce the real-life Sunday Minor will be joining us, as well.
Through the power of storytelling, we hope to provide new perspective on the life of a survivor. And through this event, we hope to learn how this story may be of greater service to social services professionals, educators, students & communities, and the survivors they work with every day.
Open topics include (but are not limited to):
- Sunday's childhood coping & escape mechanisms
- Sunday's experiences within state systems: justice, foster care, psych ward, etc.
- PTSD and/or lasting effects into adulthood
- Breaking the chain
- Memoir development
This event is open to the public, and if you are a social services professional, industry educator, or student studying to be one, we especially need your input, so please join us! If you know someone who is, please share this event with them, too!
