Kayleigh Williamson is 29 years old and is a native of McComb, Mississippi. She has lived in Austin, Texas, for the last 28 years. She is a graduate of Crockett High School in Austin. In 2017, she became the first Down Syndrome individual to finish the Austin Half Marathon and Run For The Water 10 mile race which she went on to complete both two more times.
In 2017, Women’s Running Magazine named her one of 21 women who were transforming the world through running. She is the first person with DS to complete the Austin Distance Challenge earning her finishers jacket. The challenge consists of 5 races: The Casa Superhero 5K; Run For The Water 10-miler; The Decker Challenge Half Marathon, 3M Half Marathon, and Austin Half Marathon. After earning her jacket in 2019, she became the first DS individual to complete the Rise and Shine Half Marathon in Hattiesburg, MS. She runs races in other states to bring awareness of the need for healthy living in the DS community.
After her first half marathon in 2017, she became a part of a nonprofit group for disabled runners in Austin, Texas, called Kayleigh’s Club.
