Virtual Book Launch and Webinar--- via Zoom
Amy Gentry, Bad Habits
In conversation with Laura Lippman

We're thrilled to partner with The Writer’s League of Texas to host a virtual launch party and “On the Craft of Writing” webinar for Amy Gentry's knockout latest novel, Bad Habits, publishing on February 2, 2021 from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

It’s whip-smart psychological thriller in which a grad student becomes embroiled in a deadly rivalry that changes her into someone unrecognizable to her struggling family, her ambitious academic friends, and even herself.
Come for the reading, stay for the discussion (Amy will be in conversation with bestselling author Laura Lippman), and stick around for a Q&A on the craft of writing mysteries and thrillers (send us your questions!)
Please register here, it’s FREE and open to the public, and the Zoom link will be sent to you: http://www.writersleague.org/calendar/WLTsOntheCraftofWritingAmyGentry

Attendees are invited to purchase copies of Bad Habits (cloth & paper) in advance from BookWoman (www.ebookwoman.com -a great way to support the author and one of WLT favorite indie booksellers!) All advance purchase copies will be signed by the author.

For the craft Q&A, we invite you to send us your questions ahead of time. Fill out this simple Google form (by 4:00 P.M. on February 2) and we'll do the rest. (Seriously, the chance to ask Amy Gentry and Laura Lippman questions about the craft of writing? Sign us up!)
About the book:

BAD HABITS
Mackenzie Claire Woods—a professor enjoying her newfound hotshot status at an academic conference—finally has the acceptance and admiration she has long craved. But at the hotel bar, Claire is surprised to see a face from a past she’d rather forget: the moneyed, effortlessly perfect Gwendolyn Whitney, Claire’s foil, rival, and former best friend.
When Gwen moved to town in high school, she and Claire—then known as Mac, a poor kid from a troubled family—became fast friends. Close as sisters. And Mac finally saw what it meant to have. When Mac is admitted to the same elite graduate program as Gwen, the two become entangled with the department’s power-couple professors and compete head-to-head for a life-changing fellowship. The more twisted the track toward success becomes, the more Mac contorts herself to stay one step ahead. But which deception signals the point of no return?
Bad Habits follows Mac’s reckoning between her hardscrabble past and tenuous present. With taut, powerful prose, Amy Gentry asks how far we’ll go to get what we want—and whether we can ever truly leave the past behind.
